Does learning increase skill points generation or attribute gain rate?

Recommended Posts

Thanks to QoL3 we have the new fun of skills being renamed attributes and jobs now being called skills.

Learning used to make your dupe gain skill (now called attributes) faster. i.e. a dupe that mines a lot will end up with a higher mining attribute, and having a high learning attribute would further increase that gain rate. What does learning actually affect now? How quickly attributes increase through use, like before? Or does this affect how quickly you gain experience towards skill points..?

So, my dupe has a learning attribute of 7, tool tip says that +280% research speed and +70% skill leveling. (basically like it did before)

It sounds like this implies that:

higher learning --> increased experience/skill gain rate through any activity --> more skill points --> more attributes

or is it more like the old ways:

higher learning --> increased attribute gain rate through specific use --> more attributes

If it's the first (and new) way, I would suggest that the tool tip says something more like "+70% experience point gain" so as not to be confused with the old definition of skills (really the only reason I'm not sure).

If it's the old way, then it should say something like "+70% attribute gain rate.

Higher learning does not affect exp gain in any way. When I last tested interests about a week ago, interests still give an exp gain assuming the dupe is performing the interest job. Experience is gained from time doing the job not how many jobs they complete. When testing the supply skill gives very poor exp gain as the dupe only gains exp when carrying resources towards the target.

Don't know if learning still affects attribute gain but I am assuming this has not changed.

QoL3 just released today..? So it's definitely not like it was last week in any way shape or form.

The preview branch has been available for a couple of weeks, you were able to opt in to test it. Below is a video explaining some of the new mechanics, it was put up April 3rd. I have time skipped it to the bit on skills.
