Journal Entry 1

It has been a hundred and fifteen days since I have landed in this strange, cursed galaxy. I've firmly established myself in a desert full of resources, and I plan to find a way out of here.

Spring has broken, and a new flock of those strange, terrible giant birds have descended upon the land. I must make preparations to hunt them for their down feathers. These feathers got me through the previous summer They made excellent fans.

I wonder how the Lumas are faring without me to care for them. They must be worried sick about me by now, but at least Peach and the others may be able to take care of them while i'm away... I can only hope they're alright, anyways. They're in good hands... I think.

For now, while the sky looms dark with rains, and while the food still cooks, i shall rest awhile. And wait.

(Journal entry number 2)

The hunt went exceedingly lopsidedly. One of the foul birds had a flock of goslings that was twice the number of its fellows' flocks. After a long, grueling duel where I dispatched the parent Goose, they fell upon me with charged, whirling bodies. I tried to run, but to my horror I found that they were blindingly fast, and they quickly caught up and tore me into shreds.

But it seems that my spirit could not leave this cursed realm, and as I watched, irate, unable to act as they devoured what bits of food and meat they could pick from my carcass.

And all of a sudden, a dark void suddenly consumed the world, and I was whole again, moments before the sun had risen  - moments before the wretched birds had killed me. The laws of this galaxy are strange and altogether horrifying to behold - they seem to want to bring me back to life every time I die... Whatever deities are out there, they must seem to want to watch me suffer... or is it because they want me to live on as their pawn?

Whatever the case may be, I'm alive and well. I took my time for the next three tries I had - managing to kill one, then two, then three and then all of the vile chicks as I died and lived and died some more, only to get up again and beat them to death.

I'll beat all the threats here and come back home to the Observatory safe and sound, and damned be the foul creatures which stand in my way. I'll get back, my children, I promise you...

(Journal Entry 3)

As i return to my base, the heat of summer has begun to show itself through the rain clouds as the rain finally begins to slacken. I am soaked, dreadfully, uncomfortably soaked, having gone with just my head covered in a helmet while i hunted down those horrible birds.

Never in my wildest dreams have i thought of using eye matter to fashion a very effective, heat- and waterproof umbrella which also lasts a decently long time, and yet here i am. Ah, well. Ingenuity always precedes desperation.

On much better news I've gotten a bumper crop from my farm - though, this produce shan't last long in the coming, cruel sun. I need to fashion some of these wonderful contraptions which fling Ice on burning things and withered crops if I am to preserve my harvests.

As for coming home... I've little clues as to do so in a conventional sense. Little of whatever material this continent provides can provide me with enough power to leave this cursed galaxy through conventional means...

Hold on, my lumas. Mama's gonna find a way.

The rains have finally subsided, giving way to scorching heat, torrid, warm air, and an unceasing sandstorm. Thankfully, i had managed to prepare goggles and thermal stones in response to these new threats.

Unfortunately, some of my plants were struck with an incurable malady. I decided that the best course of action, however much it pained me, was to quickly cull the diseased plants before their diseases spread.

Finally, i discovered that the strange beast in the heart of the desert had once again risen. Had i not dispatched him as quickly as i had, my home would have been reduced to rubble. It was a long, tough and blinding battle, but in the end, I prevailed without dying a single time. This new success begins to lift my spirits.

There are still many parts of the world that i have not explored yet... I may yet find clues to my escape there.

At last, a vital piece in the puzzle of my escape!

As i ventured past the upturned gravestones, i discovered a strange land which was an amalgamation of several types of ground. Seeping oozes of swampy mires mixed freely with the barren, rocky turf and the waving grassland next to it, with some odd cobblestones thrown in for some good measure. The entire place looked desolate, forsaken and glum like an unfinished project.

But lo and behold, further on the path lay a smooth-turfed plain with many craters on it, and with meteors of varying sizes. The meteors seemed to be composed of material that is usually found on lunar satellites of planets like these ones. Barely able to contain my excitement, I began mining them all - and was not only surprised to see that some of the meteors contained Star Bits - oh, joy! - but also to discover a strange, floating orb which gave me visions of celestial implements... implements that would allow me to leave, in exchange for the life of another soul  somewhere out there.

This indeed is a cruel, cursed galaxy which demands much suffering... but this is my only shot at getting back home... so, selfish as this might be, I must do this.

As i reached home I decided to enlist the help of the pigs to chop down my forest, which had grown to massive proportions. As I reached home, stacks of logs, weighing me down, a pack of hounds made their presence known, too, but I had prepared measures to defeat them with ease - namely, a set of tooth traps.

I must waste no further time, and set out to construct whatever the orb offers. Hold on, my children, mama's coming home!

Finally, you begin to see how to get back home! The lunar portal! Rosalina seems willing to bargain with the horrendous otherworldly divinities that move the threads of the Constant... a sacrifice to escape... and be it cruel creatures! You will have your blood!
(It would look great as a cartoon plot!)

Finally, the scorching heat of summer subsided, giving way to the fresh, temperate days of Autumn.

But as always, the world always had something new and vile to send at me, this time taking the shape of a gigantic, lumbering bear with a badger's pelt.

I had managed to prepare suits of armor, some jerky and two used tentacle spikes for this, having killed another of its' brethren the autumn before. Alas and alack, my weapons broke before the badger did... so i ripped, struck and tore at its' final wounds with my bare fists. We traded blow after cruel blow, my armor shattering to his mighty smashes, but my puny fists managing to tear open wounds from which the beast's life finally left him.

Barbaric, i know, but it was him or me.

Oh, how much this cursed galaxy has changed me, i don't know... Sometimes I wonder if, at the end of this, I'll still be the same loving woman my Lumas know...

How did this happen?

I had progressed so much. Overcame all the trials that came my way. Prospered, and stood on the very threshold of returning home.

20190407134210_1.thumb.jpg.4801e114583f1a28861e10f6225eccf7.jpg

I had even tamed one of the beefalos, and it had grown tame except when it was in heat.

And yet, despite all my success... this galaxy - no, this realm seemed to have more torments in store.

As i rested after redecorating my home with lovely potted succulents... the same dark void which i had grown very familiar with suddenly engulfed me once more. I fell to the ground dazed and senseless...

And suddenly, I was being called forth to the world once more, but this time, everything i had worked for -  my base, my possessions, my garden, all gone. All this had been replaced with a new world as i stepped out of the portal. The nightmare had reset itself.

20190412233542_1.thumb.jpg.f6d2c4511eb80e504f9729381f962615.jpg

A mixture of shock, grief and anger entered me. I clenched my fists and beat them against the vile, overgrown portal which had pulled me into this cursed realm.

Why? Why must this all happen?

Was this punishment for all the times i had reset the universe? Was there a soul I might have terribly inconvenienced who took sweet revenge by pulling me into this hellish realm? Is this punishment for merely watching over the cosmos and not being so active in protecting it, even wasting my time with my friends? Or maybe... just maybe i've had the worst kind of dumb luck of everyone in the universe?

No matter. There's hope to come home while i can still breath, and in this world where rebirth is so rampant, what have i to fear?

I shall waste no time. I'll keep fighting to preserve my existence. I've already found the Oasis in which I prefer setting up camp due to its' resources, and began setting this mess in order. I'll beat all the threats this world to offer into a bloody pulp, and wait until the Moon has rained down enough of its rocks such that i can finally escape.

20190413170659_1.thumb.jpg.68a3a60c9935098753986481773ca19b.jpg

I shall keep going forward, forward till i finally break out of this godforsaken dimension. Please, my Lumas, be patient. Mama shall come home. I promise you that from the bottom of my heart.

As winter passed for the first time in this new world, in my meanderings i found a strange sack.

It was a strange affair secured tightly by some chains and a large lock. It seemed full of treasure and goodies... as if Santa had left his sack of goods for me to discover all on my own. Thus it can be expected that I was very tempted to open it.

However, no implement i had could cut the chains nor tear the back open. So I did the next logical thing - find a key.

And find a key i did, the horns of a strange pack of blind deer to be precise.

But as I unlocked the sack, suddenly a strange, horrid demon came bearing down on me with two deer that it had enslaved. It seemed like a twisted form of Santa, shackled with a myriad of chains and with a large pair of sharp claws.

Thankfully, I had brought along some armor and glorious food, but despite my efforts, I took one too many missteps and was cut down.

But, like a lifeline being thrown to one droning, time reversed once more and i was back to where i was before I died.

This entity which has brought me back to life time and time again seems to want to help me... or is this merely to prolong my stay, induce some joy, before they take it all away from me again? I'll never know... but their timely actions are certainly of help in these dire times. I just hope they won't pull a total recall soon.

Taking my time, I fought the beast once more. It seemed that the deer enabled it to utilize sorceries of fire and ice, calling forth blasts of flame and ice at my feet. And, when I finally felled it, a strange necklace brought it back to life, breaking the chains which bound it to reveal a horrible, gaping maw which lunged ravenously at me.

But I would not be made a fool of a second time around. I fought on, and finally prevailed, a set of antlers spilling out from it's body, the shackles on the deer breaking. The antlers soon proved to be the right key, and I was rewarded with finely wrapped loot... the best finds among them being the necklaces which stimulated rebirth.

Now with spring breaking, I shall have to tend to my farm while blest rains pour on my plants and sustain them.

The spring rains brought with them a whole new host of old problems to bear upon me. Thankfully enough, no frogs rained from the sky as i gathered much grass and twigs for armor, farms, lighting and weapons.

Journal Entry 10

Spoiler

At long last.

After so much seasons of pain, torment and eventual triumph, I finally managed to gather all the materials needed for my escape.

I'd seen it all, started from the very bottom, and conquered every threat i have faced. I've came close to giving up, to just lay down and die, until my specter faded away.

And yet i'd succeeded. Whether it be hordes of spiders, or giants, or my own mistakes I prevailed over and over again. I learned from every failure, and even in the pain of death, the great entity above atched over me. I knew now, it was on my side, inexorably bringing me back to life when i fell.
