Help with access control for jetsuits

Recommended Posts

Help!  I cannot figure out how to make access control for jetsuits.  My goal with the following screenshot was pretty simple: I want to be able to allow dupes into the space biome with jetsuits.

What's happened is that my rocket gantries have door access, so that dupes can supply the rocket with oxylite and my astronaut can enter the rocket.  However, a dupe with a jetsuit has figured out that they can enter the space biome with a jetsuit and then re-enter the base area via the gantry door.

I can't see a way to stop this with checkpoints.  There's no checkpoint for NOT wearing a suit.  I really don't want to have a dupe dedicated to re-docking suits where they are needed but I cannot see a way around this.

The answer is: remove access to your base through that gantry door.

Whenever you have an area that should require atmo suits or rocket suits, all routes in or out should involve going past a checkpoint. Any time you allow a path without checkpoints, Dupes will enter or leave without suits.

It's easiest to have only a single entrance to an area, and a single checkpoint. Usually you want a good number of docking stations attached to the checkpoint. My surface access, for example all goes through one airlock, and the checkpoint there has 8 atmo suit docks.

If you want multiple entrances, each needs its own checkpoint. Further, you need to check the option box that says "only allow Dupes to leave if there's an empty docking station." Otherwise Dupes will tend to pick up all the suits at Checkpoint A and leave them as extras at Checkpoint B when they leave.

Alternately, you can set up a conveyor system that picks up dropped suits and rotates them through other checkpoints. That's usually more trouble than it's worth, though.

You need to block the access to your main base for the jet suits. Build one tile above the bottom door of the silo on the right and lock the door. Then set the checkpoints to "vacancy only" so the jet suit dupes won`t be allowed to pass through it. This will also make atmo suit dupes not drop atmo suits at the jet checkopint when passing by.

I can`t see the whole base but if the only way out of space lead through jet suit docks and atmo suit docks they won`t enter the base with jet suits. Just make sure they can`t fly above the checkpoints.

This all makes sense even if it is a little disappointing.

However, if I lock the silo doors, how is the astronaut able to return to the base after landing the rocket?  He'd be able to enter the rocket, but won't he take the suit off?  There's no way for him to put it back on.

The astronaut doesn`t take the suit off. There`s a visual bug that he appears to be without the suit but it`s there. You don`t have to lock the entire silo. Just make sure there`s no way for the jet suit dupes to get around the checkpoints and set all checkpoints on "vacancy".
