Full fridge not used by dupes, crazy dinner treks through the map

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Recently I have ran into an issue that does not resolve itself with reloading or quitting and starting again. After my fridge got stocked 100% with food, dupes stopped using it. Not sure if this is a coincidence or not, but since that moment, their eating habits went crazy; in addition to the fridge being lonely, even though there are gristle berries laying around the base, they would trek through half the map to get a germ rich peace of meet from the swamp biome... Nothing else has changed in the infrastructure of my base or my any work priorities anywhere near the time this started to occur. As a result, nobody has any free time and morale is low and everyone oversleeps....

Has anyone encountered this, and is there any solution?

Thanks,

Sculpur

You can disable the permission for meat in the consumables tab to force them to eat the prepared food in the fridge.

Thanks, didn't think of that, it solves the immediate issue. Would still be curious to find out what started causing this behaviour.

Dupes seem to prefer food types based on their morale. If it`s high enough they eat bad food. Your dupes might have high morale nad went on to eat low quality meat instead of higher quality stored in the fridge.

There are 2 ways of dealing with it. First mentioned above by @Mariilyn . Disabling meat from consumables. Second is setting a storage for all food types on high priority so that all the random food gets picked up and stored before break time.

also I have noticed when dupes need to pick up needed materials, they prefer items on the ground than items in storage.  Same goes for food

Thanks, I guess it is common then... So I guess the real question is why I haven't observed this ever before, even though there were plenty of dying critters in my previous games too.
