JanH Posted February 27, 2019 Share Posted February 27, 2019 According to Steam's Support's troubleshooting guide for your reported issue, external hard drives are not recommended for Steam or Steam games due to the drive potentially being disconnected from the computer, or running into issues with administrative permissions to read/write the external drive. You may need to move your game install to an internal hard drive to avoid these types of issues in the future.
