Rocket Silo Stress testing bug (Debug mode)

Recommended Posts

I accidentally found a way to get the rocket engine to fire continuously on the launch pad without moving, using debug mode. It's fairly simple, make rocket, fuel it up and launch at a target. Once it's launched use the destroy button to delete the the command capsule (The game treats the rocket as still present even if you launch it) it's technically invisible so switch to automation view if you need to find it. Replace command capsule with new one. This magically causes the rocket to invisibly return to the launch pad, the engine will continuously fire and never stop (well for at least 40 cycles which is as far as I tested it). I have been using this bug for a couple of weeks to stress test rocket silo designs to make sure no components will overheat/melt. Just dawned on me some other players might find it useful. Have used it on Hydrogen and petroleum only, don't know if it works for steam.

Side note bunker doors have an overheat temp of 1200C, however they will not take overheat damage unless you open/close them when they are above that temp. Also if they are taking overheat damage they will not stop taking it until they go below 1200C AND open/close. So effectively they cannot overheat or stop overheating until they experience a state change, weird.

They can fix the bunker door bug, but there is no way they need to fix the infinite rocket engine firing bug. It can only be done from debug and it's far to useful for testing.
