w00tyd00d
I really don't see the harm in allowing the players a little bit more control over what kind of dupes we start a world with. Since the release of the game back in alpha, we've always been allowed an unlimited amount of refreshing for each starting dupe to allow us to find 3 that we like and want to start a colony with. However, this does tend to get pretty old/boring once you've started a few worlds already and are just re-rolling each dupe over and over again until you randomly find 3 that you like (maybe some people are less picky than me, I dunno). My suggestion to help this, while still keeping the somewhat random nature of it, would be to allow us to select/highlight one of the attribute from the the list (digging, construction, learning) and have it so when you refresh that dupe slot, it will always prioritize a dupe with a good level in that particular attribute. The big one that comes to mind, for me, is learning for a good researcher. It's always this one in particular that always takes 20+ rerolls until I find one that not only has good learning, but acceptable other traits as well. Even if it's not this suggestion entirely, I would still love some sort of system to streamline the dupe selection process for new worlds. Cataclysmm
The very start allows you to shuffle them, but having to dismiss three randoms that have zero applicable skills to what you need is harsh. I mean it's like a job interview, Im not gonna hire or "print" a worker for a position without reviewing dozens of candidates and picking the most qualified. If this is say a 3d person printer and has a database of characters, then why would I randomly grab 3 to choose from, waiting for more bad choices is hard and seems to butterfly effect the demise of your colony. If you need a person for a position and have to reject several times, things get dark fast. One bad choice I made put a dupe with destructive stress reaction in a position, next thing I know She's destroyed all o2 production in the colony. I abandoned her to starvation and farmed her corpse. Im with you man, the dupe selection needs an overhaul, less randomness. DesktopMan
Custom mode with point based character building would be cool. mr peeps
I agree. What I say is that for every X amount of points in added to their skills. you also have to subtract others from other places or add a negative effect or something. Just so you aren't able to make PERFECT dupes, but still customise them Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/100641-more-control-over-the-starting-dupes-stats/#findComment-1132817 Share on other sites
