This is not about the perfect bug.

2 and 3 are systemically connected.
1 is systemically separated from 2 and 3.
2 in reply to 1 did not click the reply button.
3 in reply to 2 clicked the reply button.

I'm not exactly familiar with Gravitas mailing system, but if you think about it in general,

I think these are right.

Of course, there is a possibility that Otto modified the auto-completed title to RE.
But if you want to emphasize that Cu...Sklodowska is poor at computer.

even at 21th century, email programs are able to delete the duplicate "Re:" when answering a message :)

"Re: Re:" doesn't sound really nice.
