Flashback in the process of opening the game

Flashback after entering this interface:

I have tried many ways to solve this problem, but unfortunately none of them have worked. Uninstall and reinstall the game, steam, and delete the game's files from the steam folder and then re-download, etc. I've tried them all.  I also filed a bug report on steam earlier.

Afterwards, based on the timestamp, I found several potentially relevant log files from under the steam folder that might contain relevant information.

Also, I can't start Don’t starve: together

Steps to Reproduce

open steam -> open ONI -> enter game, Klei icon shows -> the program exits

I've tried many times beforeಥ_ಥ. I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the steam client, logged out of the account and tried again,  but none of this solved the problem. :wilson_cry:

Thank you for checking the log, based on your reminder I found the following line:

Quote

Missing interface adapter for STEAMREMOTESTORAGE_INTERFACE_VERSION016 RemoteStorage

[16:16:03.992] [1] [WARNING] SteamManager [Steamworks.NET] SteamAPI_Init() failed. Refer to Valve's documentation or the comment above this line for more information.
[16:16:03.993] [1] [ERROR] Steam not initialized in time.

So there is a problem with the steam connection to the game?

Before I thought it might have something to do with my region (China), so I tried to start the game after opening the vpn connection, and then after closing the vpn connection, but the game never started properly.Just now I tried again and found that the logs still show this error.

I tried to ask steam's customer service about this problem, but according to the guidance of steam's customer service process, it seems that steam is not responsible for this problem…:wilson_cry:

When was the last time you were able to play the game on this computer? Could you post a screenshot of your Steam -> Help -> About Steam dialog. I've seen this error when a Steam client is outdated but you mentioned reinstalling Steam. Here's mine for comparison.

Since you mention Don't Starve is also not working it's more likely caused by something outside the game--a firewall, network settings, Steam client etc.

1. The last time I opened this game was about six months ago.

2. This is my steam client's infos.

3. And I have tried to check with [check for updates] tool, but it seems that which I am using is already up-to-date.

4. The first game I started was《Don’t starve: together》, but I found it wouldn't start. After that I uninstalled it and moved on to downloading《 ONI》 and trying to start it, which failed multiple times. Then I just kept trying to launch 《ONI》.

Today I re-downloaded 《Don’t starve》 (not 《Don’t starve: together》) and found that it launches properly.

5. I just re-downloaded the 《Don’t starve: together》and an error dialog appears after a failed start. The error log is attached:

Don't starve together's exception

Last update 2020 doesn't seem "up to date" to me

Thanks to everyone who helped me, I've finally managed to launch 《ONI》!:yaypigs:
I thought I had reinstalled steam a few times before, but the version actually remained unchanged.
I just went into the directory below (Absolute path is /Users/<username>/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/) and removed all the files except the steamapps folder, and then after reinstalling steam, it successfully updated to the latest version

Thank you, I have been afraid to delete all the relevant files directly before, but just tried it and found that it actually does not damage steam.

Glad it works! If someone else has this issue in the future I'll remember to tell them to remove files left behind from the uninstall process too.
