Fish Release miscalculating number of Fish

Yalp
  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Windows Fixed

Sometimes the Fish Release miscalculates the number of Fish in its body of water.

(Yes, all relevant fish were selected for the Release).

Upon reload, the calculations seem to be fixed, but it might happen again.

Unfotunately I can not reliably reproduce this behavior, so the provided save will be "fixed" unpon loading. It does appare after 10-20 cycles on my life game. And I was able to generate the error by spawning / droping / moving / "Clear Floor" the fish (good luck  )

This was tested on a newly generated Map on the current patch without any mods.

edit:

built some automation to repop the tank and pause the game via critter sensor if above release limit. ignoring and removing eggs.
took around 25 cycles to pause.
So after the first fish's lifetime came to an end and dupes brought new ones in they overfilled it. All adult pacu.

I added the save (Fish bug after 22 c.zip). This is after the pause. Should happen again (eventually) if excess fish is removed and the dupes refil it.
I might add, the game run on speed ctrl+z.

Steps to Reproduce

See above, can't be reliably reproduce :(

edit:
extract, then load
"Fish bug after 22 c.zip"

remove excess fish from pool

unpause

let dupes refill

let game run until automation pauses game -> bug

User Feedback

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

If it happens every 10/20 cycles it might be that the fish release doesn't count pacu fries?

There was a change about aquatic critters ignoring other aquatic critters like gnit larvae. I wonder if this logic somehow leaked over there.

If it's about fry, it's still inconsistent. They are counted often enough.

There were also issues with amount of water counted towards crowded. So a bunch of changes for aquatic critters with potential issues, probably.

Edited and added a save with automation to reproduce the bug.

I have a pool with 3 wild adult pacu, built a fish release and it correctly counts 3 fishes. A few cycles later one of the adults died of old age and shortly after an egg in that pool hatched. The fish release still said 2, while pool actually had 2 adults (pacu) and a baby fish (pacu fry). Saved the game and went to bed. I just started the game and looked at the pool and now it says 3 fishes, same 2 adults and 1 baby (pacu fry). One pacu is about to kick the proverbial bucket (in 2 cycles) and one egg in the pool is about to hatch soon (it's at 51%) and I'll come and reply if anything changes, in the sense that if the count is correct.

Btw, I un-checked all the boxes, checked them back in on the kind or all kinds, even went with 'All Standard' and the displayed number didn't change at all, only a reload seems to have fixed this.
