A duplicant can leaves the base with a low calorie count to perform a task on the other side of the map and dies on his way back.

Sounds more like a feature than a bug - give your dupes more time off in several chunks - either that or drop some food along the way and deconstruct the dining tables. You might want to put a bathroom out there too.

Ravaging hunger is difficult. Problems like this should be expected. Probably need to have food stored all over the map to make this work.

Sure ravaging hunger is difficult, but my base was able to run 200+ cycles unsupervised in the live branch and I got a dead duplicant after not even 5 cycles in the testing branch.

=> I loaded the same savegame and did nothing to see if the same problem would occure again, but it didn´t ...

 

So I think it got something to do with priorities and not that just after loading a stable base in the first couple cycles a random event occured that didn´t occure the last 200+ cycles before. Sure, the average travel time for storage tasks increased over time, but not every debris would be stored in a compactor with the same priority, so some of the farest debris would already be stored without problems.

6/24 cycles are free/sleeping/bath time, so a duplicant shouldn´t be away long enough to starve.

(Normally I don´t see a starvation warning and if a duplicant starts to starve he will cancel the current task and walk back, so if the traveltime is less than half a cycle there shouldn´t be any chance to starve.)

That much seems justifiably concerning. I had a  brand new colony on survival that I was just mucking around in with debug and one of my duplicants didn't sleep one night some reason - his status was on the order of dramatically tired, or extremely exhausted, imperiled, I can't recall the exact wording. I put him to sleep early and it went away after he recovered his stamina - I can see how this might happen with food now.

I literally had nothing going on noteworthy - just some dig orders and few build orders, might have had something to do with disturbed sleeping in CO2 the second night, I don't know.

I saw some strange things about duplicants sleep too.

Since there is no effect before the stamina reaches is very low level, I thought it could be due to long travel times.

But the starvation warning should interrupt the current work tasks half a cycle before a duplicant starves, so it shouldn´t be caused by a far away tasks in the last seconds of work time like the skipped sleep schedule might be.

Or maybe it´s both about the priorities, like duplicants not leaving the med bed to pee ...
