Steps to Reproduce

Open and check the game log  in "$HOME/.config/unity3d/Klei/Oxygen Not Included"

Go to bugs

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

Are you running an older distribution? It looks like your SSL trusted root certificates aren't up-to-date.

No. I'm running openSUSE Tumbleweed (a rolling distro version with several updates every weeks)

What's the URL used for motd? maybe curl can give more hints

Found. The culprit is Steam and its antique runtime package on linux.

It's completely lost if it doesn't exactly find /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt.  Installing the compatibility package that creates a symlink (from /var/lib/ca-certificates/ca-bundle.pem) fixes the issue.
