Maskwriter
  • Known Issue

Me and a friend are trying to play, every time I load up our server she gets a message saying the host is using the old versions of some mods.

We have played on the server together, and I tried updating all the mods, but she continues to get a message saying the same thing. I made sure she had all the mods used, yet we cant seem to fix this.

Steps to Reproduce
I was just joining into the game and inviting her through steme

User Feedback

Thanks for reporting the issue, it's something we've been trying to track down for awhile now. The cause of the issue appears to be that the permissions for the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Don't Starve Together\mods directory gets messed up somehow and the game is no longer able to fully modify it.

I assume your friend is on Windows 10? I suspect that the issue is related to a recent Windows 10 update, but I'm not sure how yet.

Can you help your friend try these following steps, to attempt to correct the access permissions for the folder. Right click on the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Don't Starve Together\mods" directory, and then go to properties, then on the Security tab click Advanced. Give yourself Ownership and then permission to Everyone to have Full Control of the directory and all children directories.

This link should help walk through any steps that aren't clear. http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-failed-to-enumerate-objects-in-the-container

To be clear, I mean the root mods folder itself.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue for you, as it will help us track down the underlying cause of it. Thanks!

My friend got the same bug. I told her to fix as you said and It worked!

EDIT: It works only with new worlds, not with old worlds with mods

My friend has the same issue, we followed step to step your indications but, while looking at the properties of the mod directory, we realiazed that he doesn't have the security tab. I don't understand why, literally only the security tab is missing, do you know another solution?
