Client side animation detection

Looking to see if it’s possible to make a particular client mod for the Forge, but I need to detect what animation is running in an enemy on the client side. It should be possible, since the client has to play the animation, right? I want to put a big warning indicator for when to throw Lucy at a rhinobro (or if they kill me a few more times, perhaps even throw her automatically.) I have programming experience, but not in DST mods. A function name should be enough to get me going.
