Alchemy motif?

Recommended Posts

So... This might be moved to art and lore due to the fact this is about the world's alchemy but since google's search engine optimization confused my query as "stuff about the alchemy machine", I thought I'd ask in general discussion to get some ideas behind my curiosity:

The rampant theme of alchemy in this game and lore.

Yes, there's a alchemy machine, but in both vanilla mode and Together, I see themes of alchemy. Not just with the William Carter puzzles with its mysticism or the fact Maxwell is called one in the Forge but symbols in the Gorge's alter.

I know people compare Don't Starve to Minecraft due to "Crafting" but Minecraft never really focused on alchemy or the spiritualism of alchemy either.

There's also spiritualism elements. I'm thinking of stuff like Alejandro Jodorwesky's Holy Mountain.  So maybe it was on purpose that Maxwell's Forge skin is called the Alchemist? Closest thing I can think of with Alchemy in combining components it the gateway ritual where Wilson(and then Maxwell in the Cyclum comic) used materials to craft the gateway.

I would've also done a thread on Alistair Crowly's symbolism in this game but I felt like this would've been a repeat of this thread.
