Map dimension

Measured in tiles and there is way to increase it. Which can be done by edit your world generator in the game folder.

Yes they reduce map size very long time ago to reduce lag.

Up to the actual upgrade (Rocketry) how is the map measured? are there any mods to increase it that work with the new upgrade?. I feel like the map is smaller in comparison with previous upgrades.

The map size has not changed for a fairly long time now. it is 256 wide and and 384 high.

As SackMaggie said the file there is used to dictate the size of the world I change mine all the time and it is easy to do, just a warning though, some combinations do not work, I find that as long as it is taller than it is wider and usually by 1.5 it works all the time.

I have also noticed literally no lag problems running a 768 * 512 asteroid and very minimal problems running a 1024 * 768. Be warned that the longer the asteroid the more regolith etc you will probably have to deal with and obviously piping etc will cause lag. So the more established you get the worse some things can become.

@SackMaggie Thanks for you reply, and is there a way to know what was the old map dimension in tiles? and when you say  the the map has been shrunk to reduce lag what will be the max tile recommended?

@BlueLance Thanks for the info, so the main issue that i might find would be lag due to the number of elements that are being "animated" in screen, if i have a huge base?

Unfortunately I don't know how big it used to be, if anything probably not massively bigger.

Also I don't think the animations cause problems, but I noticed on my largest map that after I had a massive pipe network up I started to lose frames. It could possibly have been due to other things such as the overabundant regolith before the devs changed how it spawns.

Currently I am running a 768 * 512 map and I have not had any issues and that is with me breaching the surface.

@BlueLance Pipe is not causing lag as it used to be.

(Tested just now with gas pipe run across the map multiple times)

Make sure your using bridges etc! My base alone uses about 30 bridges and over 30 exo suit docks XD but heck if it isnt causing problems then I am sooooo gonna enjoy this asteroid i am on
