Zarquan
On my garage door, there is a small laser that shines across the length of the garage door (near the bottom). Its purpose is to stop the garage from closing if something is blocking it. I was thinking that a laser automation like the safety feature on the garage is in order. Basically, you have a laser source and a detector. If anything gets between the source and the detector, the signal would be false. Else, the signal would be true. This would have several nice applications. For example, you could have these set up to detect regolith on your bunker doors that hasn't been cleaned up yet. Or you could use this as a substitute for a long length of automation wire. I think this is a good idea because there aren't any foolproof methods I know of to detecting regolith and mining it without destroying it with the door bug. Perhaps there could be two variants. One that detects sweepables and dupes and anything in the tile and one that just detects block. Sasza22
I was thinking about this sort of funcionality but with a straight line light source and a light sensor. This works as well.
