Quality of Life Feedback

Recommended Posts

I have done some testing with this to see how things work. I have found some issues.

1. The only way to get enough quality of life for the top tier jobs is to eat barbeque. That is super restrictive. I understand wanting to encourage us to make higher quality food but only being able to make top tier dupes happy with barbeque is a bit much. It doesn't help that none of the tier 6 jobs are needed for anything critical. I predict most people will leave their dupes at tier 3 and 4 with a minimum needed in tier 5 for mechatronics engineer.

2. The food contribution fades too fast if the dupes eat high calorie food. Eat 2000+ calories and they skip a day eating. Then the mess hall and food contribution fades and they go a day with low QoL.

As far as i know, if food quality based on job is a concern, you can cross train dupes in everything then set them to the first tier of something. It wont really matter, because they will be able to do everything, and feed them mushrooms forever.

Different foods have been in the game since the beginning, even barbecue. In a time where you couldnt even expect to cook a single barbecue, because it was just not possible.

This is changing, however. Klei have been doing a great job keeping things up, and changing them for the better. We just have to wait for that other code so balance passes can be made. While its already possible to feed your dupes mostly barbecues (ive done it), you have to keep a low population, from 10 to 15. More dupes and it can become exponentially harder.

How?

This thread is a reference to the quality of life mechanic in the Expressive update. It removes the food quality demand based on job and rolls it into quality of life which is affected by multiple things. Including food. They have made barbeque give 16 quality of life while most foods adjust quality of life by their quality. That 16 is mandatory to get to the 24 quality of life required by the tier 6 jobs. There is literally no other way to get QoL up high enough.
