Interests too complicated for jobs

Recommended Posts

First off, love the game! But every playthrough I make right now only takes me to about cycle 10-15 where I want to start specializing my duplicants but I find their skills and traits are too random. In order for me to get someone talented in learning AND that has the research interest, I have to shuffle so many times. And the chance that a new duplicant has matching interests and skills is too low for me.

That really kills my enjoyment because it feels like this master plan I´ve been crafting won´t go up because neil, the guy I set to do farming from the start can´t become a master because he´s just not interested in it?
I´d much prefer it if it were like before: Level 7 Scientist. Level 3 Farmer or something, as in everybody can potentially do everything, but the skills just determine how quickly you can get there.

And I get that everything in this game is supposed to work against you, but come one guys, only to a certain degree. I want to feel like I have control over my peoplez while the rest of the world is against me.

I'm confused... you just described the game as it currently is. Interests don't even increase the rate of skill level. Just how quickly they master a job. Everyone can master any job. Hell, any dupe can become a master of every job, all at once.

Jobs just give a dupe a flat bonus, and a few special features. When it fills, they can take a higher tier job and immediately get more bonuses and features. The only thing, the only thing, interests do is increase that job meter a little faster. They might have a feature like yokel that keeps them from doing a job like research, but you don't need interests for a job.

Do you have an example dupe?

If you master all your dupes in scientist job they will get some learning skill points. Unfortunately, finding good dupes is left to RNG. Tbh, up too cycle 100 only 6 dupes is really needed, imo
