Duplicant food consumption

Can duplicants consume food items partially? Say pepper bread has 4000 kCal but a dupe only needs to consume 2000kCal to be full. Will they consume half a loaf of the whole thing?
Another question, has anyone crunched the numbers on what the most efficient foods are time/labour wise? What foods require the least input from dupes per kCal? I would prefer to know this only for foods above or equal to quality +2

I haven't been paying close attention lately, but I know that previously they could.  There are two ways I've seen it happen: They grab a partial amount from food storage, or they eat a partial amount and drop the rest.

I do know that over time their consumption has remained about 1k calories per cycle, and that 1k calories of food per dupe is removed each cycle, since I built my farm to provide just enough food for my dupes.

Dupes have a total of 4000 Kcal

dupes always use 1000 Kcal/cycle (+500 with bottomless stomach)  

They get hungry at 2000 Kcal and will eat only enough to reach their max of 4000 Kcal (or less depending on the food)

I had berry sludge that's 4000 Kcal yet they only eat half of it at a time
