is this a bug or bad AI or just how puffs work?

Recommended Posts

if wild critters could starve to death this puff would be dead along time ago.

the natural gas is pushing the PO up compressing it, theres like over 3000g per tile on many of the tiles.

But he keeps hanging out in the NG going down to the water line, and then up a few tiles.

Like a stupid pet that doesn't know food they can eat unless its in there dam bowl.

i know i said if they could. i made a small knee high dip of PW to make PO for him, so the slime he poops does not evaporite away, and i am letting him consume all that PO in the room, like the other puff on the left side, I put water in his water floor, so more PO would not be made, and he cleaned up the PO nicely, now theres like tons of slime in in that water waiting for me to give it a sweep order, since my slime container is sweep only, was annoyed with the guys picking up 60g-1000g every time it pooped.

But that puff in the gas room just doesnt want to go higher for some reason lol.

I miss before the last few updates that they would float up after inhaling this would fix the prob.

I never seen one poop past 450g and those were tamed

well then its 1 of 2 things in my case.

1-since I have water its not evaporiting right off the bat.  I found a few hund g can disolve in fractions of a second after it poops it.

or

2-there as a bit of slime on that block already and when i saw him poop, and clicked on the slime that just fell, it might have combined with one already there.

I prefer it, much easier to control them for slime production.  I'm working on a good puft farm design :)

I bet it's 2

ya its hard i had a farm going on a diff map, and it was working good till they ate all the PO on the whole map, I had gas pumps all over the place since power was not an issue using NG from the slime distillers.

I ended up turning the dissilers off just so they would at least get 1 cal per poop from the slime dissolving to keep them from dieing lol.

i think the flier lure shouldent need plastic, i know its like an amount thats considered 0 in the grand sceme, its more the having to unlock and build the industry to get a the few kgs of plastic for one.

theres only 2 fliers in the game, and light bugs i find are not worth luring or stabling. and the range on the slime one on top of the fact it needs slime to run. makes it way to awkward to use for anything other than keeping them in a spot, sucks balls to use them to try and move them to a new spot.

I put 3 puff in a room and was wondering why they dont make enough slime. I've learned that slime evaporates even when carried away in a conyevour rail! That sucks because there is no way to know the thing evaporates int he first place.... So much slime lost because my rail was long lol... My slime puffed while waiting to be used by my shrom farm...

Let's just wait and see what kind of change the developers introduce in Ranching mark 2. I'm sure some critters will be nerfed/buffed.

in this huge PO area there was over 10 puffs that existed in the map.

I did the pain staking work of making a nice moat for them to have lots of vapor to eat from and also so that there poop would not evaporate letting me grab it at my own leisure.

after just over 100 cycles, taking a look at my wild puff farm, there's only 1 left in the map.

I actually saw 2 of them get so close to the water they did there spasm and turned into meat. I guess this happened to the rest to.

I would say this is a bug if they like to hang out so low they are in non PO and drown themselves.

this is why I spawn Morbs when I make Puft farms, about 2-3 Morbs will keep 1 Puft well fed

ya it was not meant to be a farm, i was just gonna let the wild ones be free range heh and clean up the big swamp for me of the PO.

still possible if they are pooping in water, and I see from your pic they are :D

ya the water is so the 300-600g of poop dont vaporize, so I can let it build up keeping my guys from going to get a zillion trips, or from setting up a huge power draw sweeper system that also has hot pockets to grab a single gram lol
