A little more info on priorities?

Recommended Posts

I am a little confused as to the priority and job system and was wondering if someone could help to explain to me? If I set priorities for dupes and they all have their jobs at the same time, will they do their jobs first and then priorities, if/when the job is finished? For example if a dupe's job is to sweep/groundskeeper and they have cooking as their priority, would they sweep everything in the base and then cook only when there is nothing left to sweep?

Or is it the other way around?

Here's how it works:

There are 2 priority systems, first is the priority table which defines action priorities in general for each duplicant.

After that there is the sub-priority which prioritizes each action secondary to that table.

now if you want to prioritize sweeping in your base, you can open up the priority table, click the ... button on top of tidy row and put that to high priority, this will make all dupes to prioritize tidying up over other tasks and after they've done sweeping you can redefine that row again.

Where do jobs apply in this priority system? I have each dupe assigned a job and I don't want them to stop doing their jobs.

Jobs are supplementary, they add stats, capabilities and expectations to dupes, nothing more.

Although you can use the auto priority at the top right of jobs menu to let the game define priorities based on jobs.

Yes, if job priority auto-configuration is enabled in the job tab, but this is optional (as was said above). The job level of priority is represented by the wrench logo in the priority tab and it is equivalent to the Very High level of priority.

If you want your groundskeeper to cook alongside tidying, set cooking at priority Very High.

If you want him to cook only when there is nothing left to sweep, set cooking at priority High or lower.
