MythN7
In the top, could you make it so the cals it shows is x/y where x is the cals you have that is ONLY from the allowed consumable pool, where the y is the current total one. Also, could you add a value slider that lets us customize how low it can get before we get the low food warning. You can have personal settings, so for different duplicants the x value may vary. Maybe instead it could work similar to how it works with germs or stress - evaluate the value for each dupe, and show the lowest number. The displayed number X/Y could be instead X = total calories of food that this duplicant can eat, and Y = share of this particular duplicant (so if there's 6000 calories of food available to three duplicants, his share is 2000). The Food Shortage warning could then be displayed if any of Y values falls below 1000. While this is true, I ban all my dupes from eating meal lice, liceloaf, and bristle berries. When all dupes are banned from eating something, this scheme could easily tell you how much food your dupes can eat. The only downside is that it might get too wide. ONI is a fairly passive game as games go (As you give orders and wait for them to be fulfilled), so I often watch a youtube video on the side while playing (Thanks for making it resizable, Klei). At about 2/3's horizontal width, it can get a bit crowded in the interface, especially in the new patch. I wouldn't mind if they just replaced the current counter with your X value and you only got the Y value if you moused over it.
