MythN7 Posted March 4, 2018 Share Posted March 4, 2018 So many times this is annoying to manage unitl you get 1 of everything unlocked. Many times well into the game, you discover new things that REALLY!!! need to have customized storage settings, like slime or polluted dirt, or food / clothing / industrial / seeds. I don't mind having to go in and turn off the polluted dirt after your 1st outhouse build, and at least slime seems to not be ticked on by default if you have only algae allowed in your organic bin. But for me the main annoyance is trying to sweep stuff up, and with massive amounts of clutter, or TONS of item types in 1 category, its hard to tell sometimes for many cycles why your dups are not sweeping only cause a new entry was added to your compactors that is not ticked on. The 2 solutions I have in mind that I would like to see, is. 1: Just allow the compactors to show ALL options right off the bat, so we can manage our OCD issues before we have 20+ compactors full of dirt sandstone and coal. 2: If you want the items being added as you discover them, maybe, have a notification in the top left of NEW! discovery found, you can click on to show you where your 1st appearance of this thing is, so you can keep on top of where its gonna get stored. Also, any storage related building could show a icon until you click on that storage building, and inside, have the tick box flagged with a ! as in, this was just added to the list. As a side note, storage would be so much easier to keep track and in an organized state if we could change the compactor objects body color when inside it. In mine-craft, they didn't really have that but it was easy to organize cause you could build the block you put the storage on with the material you are putting in it, as your visual reference. Thanks for the great game, This is prob the only thing in your whole game that really feels poorly setup. At 1st it was fine and manageable, but you have added SO!!!!!!! much in the years that storage and visual ways to tell what you are using storage for is no longer at least to me in the would be nice but now in the its absolutely required pile. ImpalerWrG Posted March 4, 2018 Share Posted March 4, 2018 I think a change to the sweep icons underneath items to indicate 'no available storage location' would go a long way to alleviating your main concern. I think the default behavior of any compact what had a whole category checked and a new sub-type is discovered is for the global check to turned off and replaced with checks on only the prior existing sub-types. This means no newly discovered material will ever be stored in a compactor without you explicitly allowing it either by checking it specifically or re-enabling the category wide check. Coloring of the compactor could be done on the fullness bar, show a color that matches the material in it, rather then a green/yellow/red coloration which is redundant, we know how full it is by how tall the light bar is.
