MatthewCline
Questions about the files: 1) Why is the data for multiple bases/saves all collected together into those two files, rather than stored separately in each save file? 2) If multiple players want to share save files to do a game in round robin or succession style, do those two .dat files have to go with the shared save file? Meaning that to participate in round robin that you'd need to backup the entire "Oxygen Not Included" folder/directory, then restore the entire thing when you wanted to play your own saves? And the suggestion: include a README.txt file which gives a brief explanation of the files, and what you have to do to properly backup or do round robins. The Plum Gate
@MatthewCline 1) They aren't. Save games go in a seperate folder, and they are in fact a single file. Those two files are irrelevant after initial world gen ( as far as my experience with modding world gen has gone ). They are only created and referenced during world generation and can be deleted - as far as I can tell, they are only temporary files used during random world generation while baking the initial world into a save file. After generating over 200+ worlds while modding, they changed every time, but didn't change while loading an old game or playing the game. I even deleted them several times to figure this out. So this general observation seems to indicate that they aren't part of save games - as does the fact that save games have their own folder. As do auto-saves... Edit: So, you only need one file to pass around in other words.
