Extra water being added somehow?

Recommended Posts

So in my little system here, 1 toilet, 1 sink, 1 shower, 1 scrubber beside my coal generator all fed into a water sieve.

At one point, before I had the bottom pit wit the snaky empty pipes.  I had a dup pee all over the floor, what happened was the system was to backed up to push blue dots out, and the brown dots were backed up so the toilet could not flush either.

On the far left you can see an input pipe valve, I used this to initially feed some water in, when I turned that valve to 0, the brown dots were only about 2 or 3 backed up waiting for room in the sieve.

To fix the problem i added some valves on the output of the sieve i could toggle around to release the blue dots to make room to clear the backed up brown dots.

When I added this drainage feature, i knocked the brown dots back down to about 4-5 in line.  that was about 40 cycles ago.

Its now almost backed up again enough the scrubber is gonna get jammed.

Anyone know whats causing this additional fluid to get in my system?

Toilets output more waste than they consume clean water.  I always pretend its because there's liquid of sorts in the food they eat, but it is intended behavior.  The forum documents various ways of dealing with this through the use of valves.

ok, thanks, yea, its not a major issue like i was saying, took about 40 ish cycles to backup the pipes, and my clearance room is only like a dozen pipe pieces, I just was not aware water was added, good to know, thanks man.

I created a suggestion on a notification smart pipe for this type of backup.  Wonder if its a good idea.

I think the reason why you have more output then input is because the waste is quite literally free energy.

You can send of the polluted water straight to fertilizer synthesizers and use a valve to prioritize the water sieve. This way all the added waste will be dealt with straight away. - and your closed loop will remain intact.

ya, im trying not to use any of this treated water in anything food or oxygen related, since it has lots o germs.

The Fertilizer synthesizers make fertilizer and natural gas. The gas is then again used in the generators and the fertilizer for Sleet Wheat and the Farmers Station.

Any germs in the polluted water will in other words not affect any of your oxygen or food production. - atleast if you use the fertilizer synthesizers to rid your self of the water.

oh i thought like how the algae puts the  germs in the air, the germs would just go in the fertilizer you make, then make the yellow dotted plants ive seen in other plays.

Nope. Also be aware that gas generators put out germy polluted water also.

In case you want to get rid of the germs in the polluted water, you can heat it up to around 90'ish degrees and the germs will die off. Once the germs have died off you run the polluted water through a water sieve, the water output of the sieve is 40 degrees, effectively cooling the water you just heated.

You can atomize the whole process with the germ sensor and some minor automation, and you will end up with germ free clean water.

I tried to use the metal refinery to kill germs, but my abys pipes were bursting from heat and they were only at about 61 deg.

Don't heat water using the refinery, it's just too inefficient.

You rather wanna use either the aqua tuner or just the Tepidizer if you are lazy.

ya, but i was needing a ton of refined metal, so i thought of trying to use that, but not sure how to transfer hot liquid if abys pipes are busting at 60 deg.

My water is at 90'ish and does not burst.

You could try using oil as cooling liquid for your refinery instead - that wont bust your pipes for a long time ;)

Phase changes in pipes cause the breaks - I used liquid phosphorus (from melted phosphorite) as a coolant for the metal refinery just to see how hot I could get pipes without breaking them - it could apparently get very very hot - around 245C / 473F in abyssalite pipes, Oil is easier to get.

And once a pipe with phosphorus liquid or gas at that temperature breaks - it heats everything up like crazy.
