Priority overlay - a filter for each task type

Recommended Posts

I'm proposing a filter in the priorities overlay for assigning priorities based on task. This would essentially create a priority stack for each task type and also be clear about job oriented priorities.

Since we really can't see how duplicants are treating priorities related to jobs - rather than generically assuming 5's and 6's across the board. Wouldn't it be just as easy to handle job related priority with a filter in the priority overlay that is associated with each job type?

The result would be the ability to assign different priorities within each task category based on task type: tidy tasks, or operate tasks, etc. The result would also filter the task with the associated priorities, thus making it clear what relative priorities are within a task group as well as resolve the relation between machines and associated task type.

The generic 5 here still being the baseline - engaging the priority overlay would give a rundown of priorities - but provide a filter box in the upper right. This view might include the priority number and include a sub icon which represents the task. A broom, or shovel, etc, - some icon which corresponds to the filters. Their display in proximity to the priority number would be similar to [ the farming overlay's sub icon method for displaying the reasons for being stifled ].

Some ideas for priority shortcuts could be: if a player has the sweep tool active and enters the priority overlay - automatically change the filter to the sweep task priority filter. Dig tool would activate the dig filter if entering the priority overlay while dig is active, etc.

edit: I would also like to add that this would make 1-5 possible, if not necessary, as well as reintroduce the possibility of bringing back absolute priorities as their own category via the filters selection.

Yea, selecting from multiple preferences on how to manage priority would be pretty cool. That might help solve the disconnect we currently have between displayed priorities and those implied by specific role assignment.

Waxing idiotic here, but who's to say a lvl3 miner might bump digging 3 levels of priority higher than what it's set at because of the effect of the role.
