el_fidel
my dupes very often run once across the map, when they are getting build material or are supposed to store resources. nothing like the feeling when you dig out resources directly besides the build side or build a fresh storage only to see them run to the farthest point possible on the map. sometimes I get the feeling, it might be about age. is it a feature or a bug? Maciej75
I also have such impression, to the extend, that I think they have saboteur on the team, that works to make building big bases impossible. Kasuha
My experience regarding this is that it's suboptimal implementation. The material and the destination are chosen at the same time when the duplicant is composing the task. So if a building across the map needs a delivery, the duplicant will pick closest building and closest piece of the material. If the material is close and the destination is far, it's the better case - the duplicant will pick it, deliver it to the destination, and then he'll pick another job. The worse case if the building is close (e.g. a compactor) and the material is far away (e.g. a pile marked for sweeping). Then the duplicant will run across the map, pick the material, run across the map back, deliver the material, then he will be standing next to that hungry container, picking another task. And if it's another delivery for that same container, he'll likely run across the map twice again.
