blash365 Posted January 16, 2018 Share Posted January 16, 2018 I want to introduce a suggestion that might be able to solve several flaws of the current game: due to the early access state of the game, the map generation constantly changes, effectively making old savegames useless ruins, geysers not spawning materials, animals, plants, etc. not present of the game there are also minor dead-ends in the game shortage of materials dead animals furthermore players might reach a point where their base has simply reached the limit of their expectations and there is nothing to be done anymore (contrasting the second point) there are currently no high-end material sinks in the game (apart from repairing buildings) My idea is that the colony is placed on an asteroid, that is flying across the vast universe. And what do asteroids do? They collide with stuff! So from time to time, the asteroid should be crashing into another "thing", which should only have effect the outer rim of the colony, but allow new opportunities for the player. Possible scenarios for the Asteroid: crashes into small asteroid. A new biome is added to the asteroid (neutrinum is destroyed in the process, the new biome is protected from the void by another neutrinum layer). grazes "object". Parts of the outer layer of the asteroid are split into the void, the outer limit of the asteroid melts into neutrium in the process. attracts "visitors". A hostile/trade-interested group of visitors beam onto the colony and can be interacted with in several ways (killed, traded, kicked-off, integrated, domisticated). approaches the sun. hot. hot. hot opposite of the above -> cold ... Those events should not happen from the very beginning, but after a certain point they might allow an even more dynamic game, without completely destroying the players base in an meteor rain. Additionally the player could react, prepare, encourage, disable certain events by building certain devices near the outer shell of the asteroid: engines approach/evade sun dodge objects shields protect against objects prevent teleportation magnets attract certain objects push away other objects radio attract certain visitors radar predict certain events Do you think this suggestion might fit into the ONI world or would this result in a different game? At some parts, it sounds to much like rimworld for me, but game could need a reason, to dig up.
