Multiple bases exosuit question

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to find a way to make multiple disconnected bases and setup permissions to keep dupes in separate smaller areas. The hope is that this will allow me to scale up my dupes without slowing down the game too much.  Here's an example:

Two bases, some dupes are allowed in area 1, some in area 2, and another group in area 3.  The dupes are allowed to walk around inside the bases normally, but must wear an exosuit outside the bases.  My issue is the exosuit docks. I keep ending up with exosuits tossed on the ground and docks being empty.

Anybody else play around with multiple bases and exosuits?  If so what did you do to automate the process (not have to click request exosuit every so often)

I installed a bypass dock strictly for the visitors so that the extra suits always had somewhere to go

In this example, bottom doors would be citizens, top doors visitors (leave top ones empty) with the visitors not able to use the bottom doors and the citizens not able to use the top ones they will never intermingle suits  Plus you can put timers on the doors so colonies have visiting hours

Just in case you weren't aware (I didn't see the button for a long time). You can also set the exosuit checkpoint to only allow access if there is a vacant dock available for a suit.

If you set it to vacant only then if the docks are full the dupe will not even attempt to move through the checkpoint. This way you can limit the population of an area and prevent dupes from running through the checkpoint, finding no empty docks and dumping the suit on the floor.

I think this in combination with an alternative access point like Kabrute suggested would work to keep your suits in docks. You will always need a 1 to 1 ratio of docks per dupe you anticipate being in an area.

Here's a quick example. In this scenario only one dupe would be allowed in the bathroom area at any one time.
