O2 tank + mask

Recommended Posts

There are some areas with unbreathable gases where the temperature is fine and there is no need to walk in liquid, so using the exosuit seems like too much.. Why to put on an entire super suit just to be able to breath? :?

Maybe this tank + mask could later be used to make the exosuit. Like an ingredient.

Well masks are not enough anyway. Masks work in a way that they filter out harmfull stuff from atmosphere. In ONI you have always only single gas so masks would have to basically create oxygen from any gas which does not make sense

I think a scuba type mask would work you can carry your oxygen supply around with you and in exchange you could take a hit to athletics to simulate the encumbrance of dragging a tank around.

But then you pretty much described what exosuit is duing. You would have to fill some tank for mask anyway and machine filling it would require power so same thing as exo just maybe 1 balzam lili (not sure that this is a crop you make exo of) less. Does not seem worth the effort

True it is basically a light exosuit without bonuses to anything except for oxygen.

But it would be lower down the tech tree and have reduced material requirements.

It could be an interesting mid game thing to use while your scientists research things you might want more than the full exosuit.

I think it's a cool feature, though it's a little redundant.

1. the tank. We already have the gas bottles (that you get when you destroy certain buildings). What you really need is actually a gas bottler.
2. the mask. Dupes can already hold their breath for a considerable amount of time (actually, it's pretty long, normal dupes can sleep a full night without oxygen and still have half a bar left).

Can you give more specific examples of what environments and what kind of works are you talking about? Working in your gas geysor tanks? To my experience, dupes work fine (several going in and out, but fine nonetheless) in my chlorine and natural gas tanks by just holding their breath (tho they get scalded all the time).
