Mid game Goal: Thriller mode.

Many people on other sections of the forums are complaining about end game. I know the devs dont want to reveal their end game 'end game' ;). So here is my suggestion: a very thriller oriented mid game goal called thriller mode. This can be balanced as needed Changes required:

  • Lock the dup printer to "always on" at start.
    • Call this broken/stuck mode.
    • On stuck mode dups cannot be skipped and the printer keeps printing until it is turned off.
  • Add a new automation Printer Overload Switch exclusive to the printer to shut it off.
    • Printer overload Switch requires a few (10) Tons of plastic, refined metal (5T) Gold, (3T) Diamond and stored power (like a battery).
    • It takes 10 killowatts over 5 cycles to charge.
    • Once built and charged, the energy is used to overload the printer and turn it off.
    • Printer can be turned back on without extra cost.
    • Turning it back on requires charging the overload Swtich again.
  • Make death of a dup cause panic mode  for 1/4th of the cycle at random on dups for 2 cycles after death.
    • panic mode is just 100% stress effects.
    • each dup panics at random for the next 2 cycles following a dups death.
    • panic duration is additive, so mass murder is discouraged.

Why?

  • People will have a mid game goal, shut down the printer before it causes the colony to collapse. 
  • Mining the resources and creating the industries to obtain the resources to create the switch and energy will be a whole endevour.
  • It acts as a thriller, because you are playing against the clock.
  • Each new dup you cannot skip will add overhead to the colony. 
  • each new Dup you cannot simply kill away becuase the panic mode of dups will cause your colony to not function for a few cycles.
  • Plastic requires oil and industry for it.
  • Diamond requires you to deal with extreme heat.
  • Gold required amalgam and you to deal with germs.

Why not just play as it is now?

All playthroughs after the 3rd base, devolve to:

  • keep few dups, make lice, dont consume water, spam hatches for coal, closed loop water geyser > electrolyzers + skimmers, closed loop showers, go afk indefinitely.

If you are interested you can play thriller mode by simulating it, just dont skip dups until you go those amounts of resources, then delete them by enclosing them on a small square that gets closed off, then turn off the printer. Panic mode is harder to simulate, but you can force red alert mode when someone dies for a whole cycle. And set prio 9 to something useless, like moving things between containers.
