Dirty_sponnge
Hi all, Firstly, hopefully mods will read this, can we not have a sticky thread where when someone has like one thing (like this thread and many other threads) they'd like to add they can just simple post the megathread instead of splitting what could be one discussion over multiple threads? Anyway, Ventilation fans. lets say i have a barracks with no airflow basically, to my understanding this will have a layer of carbon dioxide eventually. It would be cool if perhaps we had vents which slowly moved gases from A to B? Quote We already have gas pumps m8 But who wants to work/ sleep/ eat next one one of them? i don't need to void a room of all gasses, i just need the waste airs to slowly filter out! Then comes, moisture! is this a thing in the game? if so, can we have some sort of fungal spore type of thing that grows in areas with higher moisture/heat? ruins decor and some air borne illness sort of thing (without it being the other slime lung) All feedback welcome!. AlexRou
The problem with ventilation fans is that they cannot move gases faster than how they are moving now, so there isn't much point to them. To have them work as you are expecting them to would require a ton of dev time to improve the simulation (which we all want) but is highly unlikely to happen given the costs vs gains. So when CO2 pools at the bottom of the room, the only option we have is to use air flow titles? (or put a gas pump in the room but that's hardly practical) The vents don't have to suck massive amounts of gases from the room, its more about general air circulation. say you have a mealwood farm, with a ceiling of two tiles high. If a little bit of chlorine gets in there we of course see that plants wither and then turn back to normal as the could of gas drifts past. As the chlorine (and any other gas) flows down the room near the vent it would just continue down the vent, with the help of a powered fan, within the pipes system) to take it to its new destination, instead of pooling in a room. 7 hours ago, AlexRou said: To have them work as you are expecting them to would require a ton of dev time to improve the simulation (which we all want) but is highly unlikely to happen given the costs vs gains. Naturally, this isn't a P1 suggestion which is solving something game breaking, perhaps the new mini gas pumps would solve this issue but the idea was to have a passive air circulation system thing. And at the end of the day, this is the suggestion section of the forum , it was just an idea that just came into my mind. more reason for a mega thread of just ideas people could discuss, so that new threads could be about in depth solutions ect. I totally get what you mean, and you can use a mini gas pump in the bottom right under the only 2-3 airflow tiles and have it that it will only operate when the gas around it is below 150g (this is so that the oxygen which should be higher than 150g wont trigger the pump to turn on but the smaller carbon dioxide packets should) Although until you can make these pumps it would have to be a large one.
