First, I would like to share my ideas about changing some of the rock granulator recipes.

I think that making the granulator take four times as long, but consume one fourth the power (and produce one fourth of the heat).

Alongside 90 kg of sand, you should get 10 kg of copper ore aswell as a very small chance to get a random seed (ranging from mealwood seed, bristle berry seed) when you crush sandstone.

I think 50 kg of the sand when crushing sedimentary rock should be replaced by clay. There should also be a small chance to get either a fungal spore or a thimble reed seed.

Then, crushing obsidian should give 90 kg of sand, and 10 kg of abyssalite. No real reason here, thought it maybe would be cool.

EDIT: I would like to add granite remaining unchanged in the sand aspect, but have a small chance to drop a sleet wheat grain. But no wheezewort, you would not have a reason to explore for frozen biomes if you got the free cooling without much effort.

Metals should also have a change, so i would think crushing ore should instead of creating normal ore, it should make a crushed variant of said ore. The crushed ore will be used in metal refinery recipes, written later in the text.

The conversion rates of all ores should change, leaving only a small amount of sand (25 kg or so), while making 75 kg of crushed ore.

Now, for the metal refinery ideas.

When it comes to the ore refinery, it would be reasonable to include clay+ore as an ingredient

So, after more thought, i think the recipes in the metal refinery should take 125 kg of "crushed ore" with 25 kg of clay and create 150 kg of refined metal. It gives clay a new use, and provides some extra steps in the creation of the refined metals. This is why i suggested sedimentary rock should convert into clay.

About the randomness of whether seeds drop or not from crushing minerals, im sure Klei can work around the RNG. (It's just that i cannot think of a way.) After all, this is a game where planning is key, not winning the jackpot on mealwood seeds, right?

If one wishes to make sand, crush minerals. It's a ROCK granulator, all right? I see potential in making granulated coal to use in high-tech/end-game filters that have yet to be added. Though, i fail to see how granulated metal can be used for filtering.
