Never gave it any thought while playing but now I'm curious why the devs removed it. If this does drop, then I never got it in my runs. Anyone find this in assets? Or is it gone forever?

Maybe it wasnt included in the beta along with other stuff and probably will appear in the official version. There are already some posts where forum users publish their findings of scripts or sprites not seen in beta. Exciting isn't it?

It might be they decided that stacking armor hats and armor suits was simply too much, one way or another. A mixup of "we want them to choose between other hats and armor hat is just too overpoweringly great", or "For it to work out, we'd have to nerf armor, but then everyone without defensive hats suffers", etc.

Or maybe we'll just see it in the full release!

it was probably too strong stacking hat and chest armor. So instead they made every hat give utility/damage so you can't stack 99% damage reduction and stand still afk while 9 pigs and a boarrior beat the crap out of you and do 1 damage each hit lol
