Duplicants always die from starvation, because starving ones allow their fat neighbours to eat first, or prefer to go to the bathroom instead of eating at last seconds of their lives. It would be very nice, if starving duplicants will attempt to eat, based on calories they have left until death, and less starving duplicants will let more starving to eat first. And also, it would be nice, if player could manually order duplicants to eat or do other work, without letting duplicants choose what to do. They often tend to run from one corner of map to another, losing tons of time and energy.

it's times like these where I start trolling dupes in food menu,... lock the starving dupes in with the food, lol. Unless you have 30 duplicant's it's pretty easy to grab the hungry ones off of the vitals screen and have them move somewhere food is being made or stored.

All this with the new rooms system seems to promote having doors - don't leave the door to the kitchen or food storage open, and you can shuttle them in one way, not let them out, or at least isolate the cook to just the kitchen and food storage area so no one but the cook is handling food coming or going from any machines. But I suppose it depends on setup and level of food shortage.
