GAME BREAKING BUG! FIX YOUR GAME.

Hello klei "entertainment",

I would like to bring a GAME BREAKING bug to your notice. A couple of friends and I had created a new world and went into it excited to play (note: it took about two hours to load in because of these absurdly long loading screens) when I finally loaded in, I noticed that my character "Winona" was standing on the water and the land seems to have vanished. I was surprised for two reasons, 1) I never expected to see the second coming of the messiah with my own eyes and 2) I couldnt walk onto the land I had found. this bug happened twice in two different NEW worlds. In the second world, one of my friends appeared to be walking on water, though he insisted it was land, I couldnt walk on it. I sure would love to play this game instead of aimlessly wandering around the sea as winona.

Welcome to the forums, churk.

Sorry you don't seem to be having the best time, but there's a command that Klei made specifically for this glitch. Just open up your chat bar and type in "/rescue". It'll teleport you from the water to solid ground so you can continue your game.  

(On the off chance it's a visual bug and there's just water for you and not him, I dunno how that can be fixed, perhaps try regenerating the world?)

As for the loading screens, that's not normal. In fact that might be just the internet speed of whoever's hosting the world.

Hey @churk, welcome to the forums.  

I remember this happening before but it happened because the Host of the server didn't have User Permission for the game to access and save to/write to their operating system's files (particularly the Documents folder),  or something like that. So try and Run DST and Steam as Administrator. If possible, play on an Administrator account on your PC that might be what's causing the issue for you. Also, there's a chance that it's due to OneNote being active, cause as far as I know that also affects the default location of you world save files. If OneNote is active, everything in your Documents folder gets moved to a different location. So disable OneNote if you have it.

Lastly, the last time something like this happened was ages ago. This was one of them: Same Game, Different Worlds. The issue occurred there because there was an issue with the game not being able to save files directly to the documents folder. But that was particularly with setting up a dedicated server. If I understand it correctly, the method might work for you too.

Also there was another thread like that back then but sadly, I can't find it. It's been lost in the Archives. If I find it, I'll let you know. For now, please make sure to attach the necessary information files DxDiag.txt and client_log.txt in your Bug Report post to the Bug Tracker.
