Item Transfer Tubes

I was staring at my coal generators, which never get filled, and was annoyed by how sometimes you have power from them, and sometimes you don't.  So, I was thinking you could make Item Transfer Pipes to move things from one machine to another, or from a storage compactor to a machine (like a coal generator), or have the equivalent of vents, so waste goes immediately from the toilet to the compost.  This is just a thought, so if anyone can find any flaws(which there probably are) or add on to the topic, it would be great.
