My language (czech) is more crazy than english and translations system isn't ready for this. Two simple examples: Counting: in english you have 1 beer, 2+ beers. In my language i have 1 pivo, 2 piva, 3 piva, 4 piva, 5+ piv. (Pivo is czech word for beer ) Man vs Woman: in eglish you have "Joe is young" for male and "Jane is young" for female. In czech language is "Joe je mladý" for male and "Jane je mladá" for female. And much, much, much more... I think here can be one "simple" solution: implementation of special strings like "This Duplicant drank {0} Beer{2+:s}" - "Tento duplikant vypil {0} piv{1:o|2-4:a}". When value in vairable {0} = 3, in english you can see "... Beers", in czech "...piva". When variable {0} = 1, in english you can see "... Beer", in czech "...pivo". etc... Kasuha Posted September 21, 2017 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Well there's "Joe is young, his age is ..." and "Jane is young, her age is..." and the game avoids this by using gender-neutral words in these cases ("their"), suggesting duplicants don't have, or have unspecified gender. In czech similar approach is possible too, either by assigning a single gender to them, or through carefully avoiding gender-specific words. I would guess duplicants have no gender value in the game, the only thing that suggests their gender is their default name (that can be changed) and their hair (which is matter of subjective assessment and I have seen likes of each of them on either gender in real world). Regarding counting and other cases, it would probably help to give examples of actual game texts where you have problems. [CS] 2 germs [EN] 2 bakterií - wrong; 2 bakterie - OK. [CS] Yes, it's a trifle , but here are more "important" language mistakes: Iron Ore --- Delivering Iron Ore; Consuming Iron Ore,... in English Železná ruda ----- Doručuje Železná ruda, Spotřebovává Železná ruda,... (wrong) vs. Doručuje železnou rudu, Spotřebovává železnou rudu (OK) in Czech Actually i have no idea how to solve this example... T. Le0n1des Posted September 22, 2017 Share Posted September 22, 2017 I guess you'd have to have a linguistic team working on the quirks of different languages, such as noun cases in Slavic languages...
