Put a button next to the Pause, 1x,2x,3x buttons that looks like an alarm bell. Clicking it will turn it on (light blue). When dawn breaks the alarm will toggle itself off and pause the game. This way you can set 3x and run out the sleep cycle whilst simultaneously giving you a moment to get up and grab a soda in real life - even if you are in a state where you need to be micromanaging the Dupes. . Also if you have all your Dupes happily doing what you need you can set it in the daytime and let it run out until the next dawn. If you wanted to be fancy maybe a right click menu to set the alarm two or three days out.

So for example, you could give the Dupes marching orders when they wake up, hit alarm and hit 3x, then go do some chores around the house and check on them a game day or two later. Set the next round of jobs and builds and go do another chore. Repeat.

I would like a button 'skip to morning' that (after a quick fade to black) disables the display and the spends all resources on the simulation till morning comes and then reinstates the graphics and resumes with the set speed (with another quick fade to the normal display).

Reasoning is that the night usually has nothing to give to me, so I see no point in having to wait it out.

In the future, you'll never know when the middle of the night might hold some unspeakable terror - exploding walls, sudden gas floods, monsters, somnambulists, etc...

I love the pause-at-dawn option, though. It's a great compromise for "fast forward" as an option.
