Bargeral
It would be nice if I could delete an old base, and all it's auto-saves, with one button. Create a folder (maybe with the base name) and put all the saves for that base in there. Then I can delete the entire base, or just a few old saves at once. Masterpintsman
Loading a different base will currently nuke all autosaves of the last one - so in case you want to temporary switch bases you'll have to save your current base or all progress since the last save will be lost... Ya, that's the kind of thing that annoys me and is why I suggest having folders. Keep all the autosaves for one "game" (base) in one folder and don't overwrite autosaves from another base. Bargeral
Giving it some more thought. In the category of "way to much information" here is how I'd love to see save games managed. New Game (Main Menu) Create a folder named after the base and put the initial save file there. Put autosaves (and all other saves) for that base in the folder. Save as (In game menu) rename "Clone Base" Instead of a Filename dialog have a New Base name dialog Rename the base to the new name. Create a folder named after the new base name and create a save file there. Put autosaves (and all other saves) for that base in the folder. Save (In game menu) "Snapshot Save" Don't ask me if I want to overwrite, just do it. Create a "Snapshot <X>" save file in the folder where X in an incremented value New "Snapshot Save Named" (In game menu) Dialog for a Snapshot Name Create a save file in the folder with the snapshot name. Main Menu (In game menu) No warring about save overwrite, just do it. Create a "Snapshot X" save in the folder where X in an incremented value Exit to the menu Resume (Main Menu) load the most resent save from the most recent base folder Load Game (Main Menu) rename to "Load Base" Have a first dialog that is a list of all your bases - select one to open the "Base Timeline" for that base. Also have a quickload - to just load the most current save for that base. Base Timeline.(Sub Menu to "Load Base") everything on this dialog is about the one base selected. Delete a base. Confirmation dialog "this will delete the base and all the save games on the base's timeline" Show a timeline across the bottom spanning from Cycle 0 to the current cycle Each save file (Initial, autosaves, quicksaves and resume) will have a dot on the timeline. Each dot on the timeline will have a call-out to some information about the save Small screenshot (Maybe just for snapshots?) name (maybe just for named snapshots?) Load button Delete button Clone base - from this point in time, not from the most recent save. Check-mark toggle Button for delete all check-marked. Maybe a clean up button that deletes say all but most 5 most recent snapshots or autosaves? So the timeline is the new idea here. When you open a timeline for a base you would have a list of the saves. You could manage the saves here. You could "Clone Base" Creating a new base from that save (so you don't overwrite your autosaves) if you wanted to try something awesome from a certain point in time.
