Wilderness Mode - what is the point?

In wilderness, when you die, you just die.

 

Sure, you can join the server again, but you died. The point is, in a multiplayer game, the option "you can't play with friends anymore because of an hidden tentacle, and they don't want to abandon a 380+ days world just because of this" is not really the best one.

So maybe you could make a world with improvement for that (i don't now, limited number of death allowed, with the possibility of building meat effigy and have touchstone and all), but i don't think you can make a vanilla option of world when you die you can't play anymore with your friend and have choice between force them to lose all progress or play without them.

So if you can solve this part, i would, for me, like a more "don't starve" experience.
