Suggestion: Expanded thermal switches

Recommended Posts

While the electric switch that toggles on and off based on ambient temperature is nice, I wish there was a water and gas valve that you could program.

It would check the temperature of the gas/liquid inside the pipe. You could program it to block the flow if the temperature was above or below a specific temp.

So "Block liquids if temp is > 70℃" would block any liquid too hot, but let anything under that flow normally.

Thoughts?

It's a great idea for more automated control over the colony.

I hope they go all out with a gadgets update. Temperature controlled valves would be nice as you suggest. I'm personally hoping for an air pressure sensor. Perhaps a dupe motion sensor. Just a ton of cool ways to program the base and machinery. Someone suggested logic gates and the like so things can get really complex.

Maybe run thermally conductive wires along conductive pipes? If a hotter material goes through the pipe the pipe conducts it's heat, and *theoretically* the wire conducts heat from that?  Might be a dumb idea.  You'd need to be able to flush the system with cold to reset
