Wet/Soggy debuff + new building

Recommended Posts

I thought up this funny/challenging enhancement to the Thermal Update...

Wet Debuff

When a Dup steps in >200kg water they get a minor "wet" debuff to stress and athletics. The wet debuff lasts 200s (1/3 cycle).

Soggy Debuff

Submerging in >1000kg water results in a "soggy" effect with a major debuff to stress and athletics. The soggy effect also increases disease chance, negates the effect of warm/cool clothes, and speeds up hypothermia/overheating.

A submerged Dup will also absorb 5 kg water (conserving mass) and leave 250g puddles every 30s all around the colony, until drip dry (1 cycle).

Art/Animation: New art would include soggy/droopy clothes and soggy/matted hair. Soggy hair could be a single style with colors to match Dups dry hair (so long as gameplay isn't negatively impacted; imagine if every Dup is soggy!) Liquid drip animation could be reused for soggy effect.

Comparison

Pee Mechanics:
full bladder = 1500g pee (polluted water)
mess = ~250g pee * 6 puddles

Soggy Mechanics:
soggy = 5kg water (starting qty) = ~1.3 gallons
5,000g water / 250g = 20 puddles
soggy debuff is 1 cycle = 600s until drip dry
600s / 20 puddles = 30s between puddles

New building: Giant Hair Dryer

The Giant Hair Dryer is a 3x3 building that requires 360 W power (only when in use) while outputting 240 W heat. Any residual water from soggy debuff is converted to steam (conserving mass). Dryer is operated for same duration as shower.

Possible exploits/funny mechanics: Deliberately making Dups soggy and then using dryer to (quickly?) convert water to steam!

In fact, I like this idea a lot.

Soggy status might also affect dupe's temperature comfort zones - he'd feel better in warm and worse in cold.

In addition there could be a new equipment item - a towel. A dupe carrying the towel would have some penalty in athletics but he could dry himself with it to prevent leaving water spills, though he would retain the soggy status.
