jeneah
Hello all! Do certain biomes emit certain gases? I ask because I tapped into a purple biome (igneous rock, abyssalite, etc.) to one side of my base. There was a lot of carbon dioxide there so I built a path for it to flow into my cistern under the base where I could process it. After a while, however, I noticed that not only had the volume of carbon dioxide not decreased but that the density seemed to be getting higher rather than lower, suggesting that something in the purple biome was creating fresh carbon dioxide. Similarly, I tapped into a "toxic" biome (slime, gold amalgam, etc.) above my base. It seems like there the volume of polluted oxygen always increases (there is no exposed polluted water there, which at first I thought was the culprit). I know once you dig it up slime creates polluted oxygen--could it be creating polluted oxygen in it's original form also? If biomes are emitting gasses, do we know which elements are responsible (e.g. maybe slime for polluted oxygen)? Thanks for any help you can provide! Vilda
No, or at least they did not last time I checked. CO2 concentration rising is probably from your duplicants breathing. Slime in natural form does not emit concentrated oxygen, but polluted water does. And it has no regard for max pressure. Check the P.oxygen values before you dig into a caver, you can see some of them having 20+ kg/tile. And if dug, it will try to spread to normalize pressure. jeneah
Carbon dioxide breathed out by a dupe should appear where the dupe is, though, no? I'm talking about a cavern where no one goes, and when I hover over a square of carbon dioxide I can watch the concentration rising. Mijae
Yes, slime and morbs will emit polluted O2. Some biomes can emit other gases depending on temperature conversions (like steam or phosphorous gas). Another source can be displacement due to volume. If the biome you dug into is over pressurized, it can expand into more tiles than it previously occupied. I'm not sure what would cause CO2 to over pressurize, but something else could be pushing it. I have seen liquid CO2 form naturally from wheezeworts, which is compressed and could change back to gas later.
