Destroyerofsoul
Anyone else encountered this biome in the wild ;). Got off my 12 hour stream last night after covering this thought it was pretty funny. Btw dupes are safe to the left of that wall you see. Radax3
I think that just might be a melted cold biome. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/76205-did-anyone-else-find-kleis-new-ocean-biome/#findComment-884982 Share on other sites

Destroyerofsoul
It's not just a melted ice biome, Here's the story behind it. The story was I was exploring the asteroid when i hit neutronium on the side and found my first geyser. So I decided to setup a gas pump system that's when the water nation attacked... After the gas system was setup the geyser started acting weird and started multiplying rising and rising I tried to build pumps as it rose and it kept covering them and damaging them. Eventually I ordered the retreat of everyone and gold pumps to placed in the pressurized tube shown needless to say the water kept approaching my base. So we formulated a plan. We built a wall to keep back the waters as of today the water is at our gates but it holds firm. It is currently heading north I assume to seek its assault and consume my 28 dupe's souls as it is insatiable. Up to 5million kg's of water at the source. Dogbarian
Wow, that seems a little excessive. Maybe these unlimited steam geysers need a bit of a limit. What's the temp of the water? clamjam
I think it's safe to say that you can turn on the microbe musher and use algae terrariums if you want. klaus_bast
Yep, happened with me too. I thought it was lucky to have 3 geysers near the bottom of my base, and dug some very big spaces to hold tank, separate the contaminated water from the pure water, etc. As soon as I broke through the natural tiles surrounding the geysers my nightmare began. Water began overflowing from the geyser area, filling the area below the water tank structure I was building. I thought the situation could still be salvaged, so I dug another tank next to the first one and started pumping/filtering. "Soon", the geysers said. "Soon". The water level rose until it hit the ceiling, and after a short while destroyed it, despite my dupes' best efforts to constantly fix it. When that small square of insulated tile broke, what could only be described as a tsunami came out. A huge wall of pure, beautiful, drinkable water instantly filled the floor it just invaded, flooding the battery system I was using to power the pumps. The calamity then proceeded to invade the ladder well from above, filling both my safety tank and my Contaminated Water tank. Walls started breaking everywhere, tanks mixed, Morbs and Puffs living together, chaos. So, I don't think this can be salvaged in any way. I thought about a few ways: Being really wasteful with water, making lots of Mush Loaves - Too slow to make a dent on the water surplus. Putting lots of Electrolysers to work, but because of the ridiculous low capacity of High Wattage Wires (2 kW, seriously?) and my complete lack of clue of how to split circuits without having to build several separate generator facilities or isolating stretches of wire with Power Switches, I don't think it could work (and then I will hit the High Pressure wall); Digging more. Nope. Seriously, the freaking water is faster. I believe the colony is lost, and it is just a matter of time before alien mermen start taking over. I think the main problem with this is high pressure Steam that is formed in those Geyser spaces. I guess the game does not take in consideration pressure when calculating condensation, resulting in situations where you can find almost 380 metric tons of Steam in a single square (see attached picture). Considering a square is 1 cubic meter (it holds 1.000 kg of water normally), the density there is ludicrous. If for some reason it starts condensing, the actual water volume will be added to the bunch. That means that small square will turn into almost 380 full squares of (pure, beautiful, drinkable) water. That floods everything. I think the solution is to make Geysers work like vents, meaning they stop working if they're overpressurized, submerged or something like that. That way we would not have those near instantaneous flooding situations. Just my experience with the new patch! (Also, eff circuit overloading, hard.) ~Klaus_Bast Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/76205-did-anyone-else-find-kleis-new-ocean-biome/#findComment-885120 Share on other sites

What's the temp of the water? The temp of the water was about 175 F i believe just hot enough to break standard liquid pumps unless they were built out of gold (90F+ withstand) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/76205-did-anyone-else-find-kleis-new-ocean-biome/#findComment-885264 Share on other sites
