Re-using Shower Water for Lavatory

Recommended Posts

Strangely most people don't like seeing/smelling green smelly water in their lav. it would probably need a new category of "grey water" (slightly contaminated)

I noticed the lavatory animation isn't quite right. the top tank should fill up, then empty when used (flushed) and quickly refill again.

I mean, it's certainly something that should be added... there are definitely more classes of water than Clean and Contaminated, right? The water isn't going to change colors because someone showers in it, I don't see what the harm would be in re-using shower water for the lavatory. It's a resource save.

If it was fine to fill a toilet reservoir using water out of your shower, it would be used in our houses. You never know what will get to that water, all kinds of particulate matter and salts that may precipitate in the reservoir and gradually fill it or clog the pipes. While it may seem to be ok to flush the toilet with slightly dirty water, it's not fine to put the flushing mechanism into it.
