Also the algae is better below, since the CO2 tends to go down the oxygen since it's heavier. Normally if you make a co2 pit, and make sure that below it the oxygen is something like 1500g/tile, it will force the co2 to stay down and compressed. also, if find deoxydizers to be decently useful in corners. It makes sure co2 doesn't accumulate in said corner. Also, once you have your pit done, try putting an air scrubber in here. It does tremendeous work.
