AlucardEX
So I just "finished" my second attempt at ONI. I survived till Cycle 30 and while I could still go on for a while the problems are slowly but surely piling up: Stress Almost universally at 100, water running very low, contaminated "water" from stress vomiting all over the base and almost impossible to deal with. What I learned so far: Water is by far the most limiting factor in the current build followed by Algae. I've mostly been using Algae Habitats to deal with oxygen and CO2 and while I never ran into any Co2 related problems I was almost constantly starved for water. Next time I''ll try to secure as much water as fast as possible and I'll try to rely less on Algae habitats and extract the Co2 from the air instead. Maybe that will make things easier. What's your experience so far?
lemmethink
I found it make sense to use dikes to limit vomit/bathroom accidents from contaminating your base. Plenty of CO2 problems because algae seems to be in short supply as well, at least until you can turn slime into algae, at which point slime goes into short supply. The algae crusher seems to be a waste of resources as it requires too much algae and uses it up too quickly.
AlucardEX
Hmm good to know. I've been experimenting around with electrolysis but i cant seem to get the gas filter to work properly. Anyone know if that thing is bugged or something?

I feel like I' am constantly chasing algae and then slime. If either isn't on the map it is a ticking time bomb. I have started NOT bringing in dups that stress vomit. I look for destructive instead - far easier to address without the contamination and the massive stress that comes from contaminated water and vomit. I would love to see some device later in the tech tree that allows for maybe a water condensation machine - somehow capture the heat in the base+dupes exhaling and perspiring. Might solve at least long term water chasing....
anihillator
Yeah, I totally agree. Maybe make algae blocks grow somehow, or allow us plant algae in the box? And yes, water is a big problem- I don't even have enough to research anything at this point and every bit of water that I can see is contaminated. kambing
My first world generated without water in sight. Finally dug and found a tiny pocket of water which i used to rush water filtration research, but it was still brutal and my colony started to die of starvation until only 2 are left. My second world is much better, and I rushed to construct a (sort of) self sustaining water recycling system where lavatories and showers will provide contaminated water which gets recycled and put back into the tank i build at the top part of my base. Boy do those dupes love their showers.

As of the water recycling system, I've been trying to make one but either I can never find a good setup or my gas situation makes me reset before I get close to doing it (in tech and/or digging/builiding). kambing
I got to a much better place on my 3rd try with careful stress management. I crunched some numbers, 6 dupes is the magic number. Also mesh tiles let light through, so you can support 14 algae terrariums for free without power.
