Need help with a custom item and character perks

Okay, so im fairly new to modding of course
and ive been working on a character mod using the extended sample character tut
i recently downloaded the SW version because it comes with a sample item, but i cant figure out how to give the item a unction
i want to make an hand held item, that comes with the character and that gives a sanity aura when held
but i have no idea of how to do it? i want the item to have infinite durability and cant be crafted

I also need help making the character overheat a lot more easily and get cold less easily (because fur)
